Good morning St. John’s, This is St. John’s Living - the local newsletter that’s more satisfying than molasses on a touton.

Let’s get into it…
Digest
🏒 Get ready to cheer for Veitch and Norman
The QMJHL Draft was held this past week and two local boys were selected in the first round by the Newfoundland Regiment. Ben Veitch, a forward from St. John’s was selected 5th overall while Quinn Norman, a defensive player from CBS, went 6th overall. They will likely be joining Ty Peddigrew to form a trio of islanders on the new team. Can’t wait for puck drop on September 18th against the Moncton Wildcats. Go Regiment!
🖼️ Vacant windows no more
City staff have a proposal before the council today to bring an urban art gallery to Water Street this summer. On select vacant buildings in the Pedestrian Mall footprint, the city is proposing to install vinyl window decals showcasing city-owned art. We love it! Not only will it mask some sad looking empty storefronts, but it will boost the exposure of local art. Win-win if you ask us.
